Accidentally Ignoring QuickNote Senders Is A Big Problem!

Hi. I know that i, and many others, have accidentally ignored users by mistake while browsing around on the zone. I was wondering if there's any way that, when the ignore linked is clicked, an OK button must be clicked before the user is ignored? I feel horribly when I do thsi by mistake. Caitlin

WHY? When people on play games and complain when you refuse to entertain them..if they want to get in touch they know where to find you.

d'you think they are really offended dear?

I notice I have a tendency to do that a lot, especially when I'm trying to write in forms mode and the forms mode acts stupid. I often feel bad for doing it. Caitcait, good idea.

I wonder is there a way people can tell when you've ignored them besides not being able to send them quick notes?

Caitlin, I've brought this up with admin and they are aware of this. It bugs me too and I'll pus it through to be fixed, not sure when but hopefully within a couple of weeks. :) If they let me help out it'll be my first task.
Cheers

Caitcait, I too have brought this up with admin. I've suggested more than once to remove that pesky ignore link in the quicknotes and place it somewhere else but it doesn't help.

I almost accidently put someone on ignore that I was talking to. I think I was moving around the screen too fast, trying to get to the edit field as quickly as possible. Luckily I got out of it as quickly as I could. I got out of it before it took effect though, and from then on I was more careful. So far I've only had 2 quicknoteembarrassments. The other was accidently answering the wrong person. It was embarrassing as heck, but I was depending on that combo box still being on the person who sent the note, woops. I got out of it gracefully though, lol. It was my own carelessness really.

Hi All! Yeah. I know for some people it doesn't bug them, but it really annoys me and I don't mean to ignore people by mistake and have them be all hurt and think I don't wanna talk to them. Lol. I'm waaay too sesitive about stuff like that. Sorry! But yeah. Hope this can be remedied at some point. Caitlin

I'm with you Caitcait, I feel as bad as you do.

I'm with you too on this one Caitcait. It would be so much better if they moved the ignore link to the profile or at least had a pop-up asking if your sure you want to ignore the person.

the trick is to read a page thoroughly, the page doesn't refresh until you hit a link, be it qn or otherwise, so take your time to read.

Thats what I have to do Dobyn. The reason I almost put someone on ignore by accident was that I was trying to get to the forms field, so I could answer as quickly as possible, and that's how it happened. It might be necessary to put someone on ignore right when they send a quicknote, I mean if the person is being annoying or something. I was lucky I got out of it before it had time to do it, but I guess I could've taken them off ignore if I had to. When I do have private quicknotes on, which is very rare indeed nowadays, answering a quicknote is my number one priority. That's probably how I hit the ignore link when I meant to enter on forms mode to bring up the combo box.

Caitlin, I've never used the ignore list at all when I've been scroling around reading the quicknotes. I'm a very careful person. It would be a good idea to put the ignore feature in the private mail section. Maybe we should suggest that to the Administrator. I saw the ignore feature in the private mail section on another message board called E-Pals. It's been pretty quiet there, so I've been spending most of my time here on The Zone, which as you already know is a great place to kill time.

hey aren't there form mode commands for screen readers? hmm i use them but i had ammost the same accident; I tryed to check out someone's profile when I had them on ignore, so it would be a good idea like if there was a confirmation page, I now more bandwith or however you spell it... well I know more of it is used but it is worth it

Post 16 by louiano (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 15-Feb-2005 13:10:24

oh... sorry folks, but also did you know that pressing control pluss enter erh, shift pluss enter on a user name which is currently selected in the combo box makes you ignore them? the thing is that a new brouser window appears.... and well that was my second quicknote accident...

Post 17 by jrimer (Please visit my home page at http://personal.wbby.us.) on Tuesday, 15-Feb-2005 19:08:28

Lou, it doesn't put them on ignore, just opens the new window. I just tried it. And in the combo box, no combination of control or shift plus enter works.

Hmmm well see I'm not very careful. I go really fast. That's why I'd like a popup. By the way I've now done this accidental ignoring twice. Darn...

Post 19 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 16-Feb-2005 17:48:04

We'll have a confirmation screen for the ignore list soon.
